Easter this year is Sunday, March 31st. Christ Community Church will offer a large number of opportunities to Worship during the Lenten Season.

The Book of Revelation records a series of visions the Lord Jesus gave St. John the Apostle while he was exiled on Patmos, an island in the Aegean Sea. John was instructed to send letters to seven Christian churches in western Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). These letters are recorded in Revelation 2 and 3 to encourage the Christians in their faith while they were persecuted by the Roman emperor Domitian. Salem’s Lenten theme this year is Revelation for Lent. We will examine these seven letters and hear their message to us today. Most of all they point us to Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God slain for our sins who has conquered death in his resurrection. As we look forward to his appearing on the Last Day, we pray, “Come, Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22:20)

We invite you to our midweek Lenten services, Wednesdays at 1, 4, and 7. Holy Communion will be celebrated at all services on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Easter Sunday. The 4 o’clock service is especially geared toward families with young children. It features a more casual format with interactive lessons based on the week’s reading from Revelation. Our journey through Lent leads to Holy Week, the cross of Calvary, and the empty tomb of the Risen Christ on Easter morning. Each Wednesday during Lent a different group or organization will serve a light Lenten supper from 5:00 to 6:30.

We also invite you to our morning Bible study, Tuesdays at 10 beginning February 12th. We will take an in-depth look at the letter for the following day’s service.
